Belleek Marks

If you want to ensure that you have an authentic Belleek piece you must make sure the item has the correct markings. If you have found an item from 1863 to 1890 the piece will be marked with the word Belleek or Belleek, Co Fermanagh. The mark is usually made in black. Also in this era items may also be marked with the patent office registration mark.

The second batch of marks came about in 1891-1926. When Belleek began to import items to the US, they had to change their mark to comply with the McKinley Tariff act of 1891. Now items coming into America had to be marked with the country of origin. Another banner was added to the mark to say Fermanagh, Ireland. The next era added the stamp 'deanta in Firinn' and the trademark number. This dates back to 1926 to 1946. The first green mark came about in 1946-1955. The stamp was the same it was only changed to green. The second Green mark debuted in 1955 and lasted until 1965. This period say a simple trademark R above the banner. The third green mark began in 1965 and went to 1981. The banner simply read Ireland. The First Gold mark was the same as the previous but the color was changed to gold.

The trademark emblem never changed. It has always been an Irish wolfhound with its head turned to the Devenish Round tower. Also there is an Irish harp.
